Ustad Mushfiq Hashimi, a Maestro of Classical Indian Music, was captivated by music, at the tender age of five.

On his musical journey, Ustad was blessed to study with many legendary musicians.
He is the disciple of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty of the Patiala Gharana.
​
His first Guru was, Pandit Rubin Chatterjee and to date, he still receives teachings from him.
​
He had the honour to study Raag Analysis for several years with, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
​
Another great blessing was studying vocal with Pandit Biresh Roy and his son, Kaustav Roy.
​
On tabla, he was graced with the guidance from, Ustad Faiyaz Khan Saheb.
​
He studied with Ustad Mashkor Ali Khaun, the torch bearer of the Kirana Gharana. When he witnessed, Ustad Hashimi's love and dedication to music, Ustad Mashkor Ali Khaun introduced him to Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarthy.
Ustad Mushfiq Hashimi is the Founder and Artistic Director of Mushfiq Arts Company in Ottawa.
A Center that offers classes in vocal, instrumental, visual arts and calligraphy.
He is a world renowned Artist who speaks seven languages, sings in twelve languages and performs globally with his own ensemble.

Mushfiq is a Master composer, vocalist and instrumentalist with over thirty five years of musical experience.
He holds two Masters in Music from Holland's renowned, Rotterdams Conservatorium of Music and from Pracheen Kala Kendra in India.

With great honour, he is a Seventh Generation Persian Calligrapher. He teaches and shares twelve styles of calligraphy.

Growing up with poetry, many of his compositions are inspired from Rumi, Bedal, Amir Khusrau, Ahmed Faraz and Kabir. These teachings help students grow, flourish and to see life through a creative lens.

Mushfiq's vision and passion is to bring his Afghan heritage together with North Indian Classical Music and blend it with a Western touch. His hope is to share this Devotional style of music with the world.
